Announcing the Nouwen Book Discussion for Lent 2018

If you’re thinking it can’t be time for another Nouwen Online Discussion because that doesn’t happen until Lent – guess what? Lent is almost upon us!  Ash Wednesday is February 14th, just a few weeks away.

I’m sure you will be delighted with our book selection for Lent. It’s Henri Nouwen’s The Road to Daybreak: A Spiritual Journey.

The Road to Daybreak is Nouwen’s intimate diary that records Henri’s journey from the teaching at the most prestigious universities in America to the small community of L’Arche Daybreak on the outskirts of Toronto. For Henri, it was the beginning of a time of deep self-discovery and spiritual renewal. But that’s not to say it was easy.

With simplicity and honesty, Henri describes how the experience changed his attitudes and enriched his spiritual life. He also recounts the struggles and self-doubts he faced along this rocky road to a new vocation as he introduces us to the people of L’Arche and others whose impact on him was profound and life-changing.

Join us beginning Wednesday, February 14th for greetings and introductions, then journey with us through each week of Lent as we read and discuss this very personal and profound journal from Henri Nouwen.

Facilitated by Brynn Lawrence and Ray Glennon, the Lent Online Book Discussion is a wonderful way of nourishing your spirit throughout Lent.

We do hope you can join us. A reading schedule will be posted prior to the commencement of the book discussion.

Don’t have the book? It’s available at most bookstores, or you can order it online by clicking on the Bookstore tab in the menu bar above.
