Finding My Way Home is a collection of four short essays, three previously published by Crossroad Publishing and here revised, that looks at different aspects of our spiritual life: The Path of Power, The Path of Peace, The Path of Waiting, and The Path of Living and Dying.

Henri with friend and founder of the Henri Nouwen Society, Wendy Wilson Greer.
In the book’s Foreword, Wendy Wilson Greer writes: “In Finding My Way Home, Henri Nouwen writes about ‘journey’ in [this] way:

Our spiritual journey calls us to seek and find this living God of Love in prayer, worship, spiritual reading, spiritual mentoring, compassionate service to the poor, and good friends. Let us claim the truth that we are loved and open our hearts to receive God’s overflowing love poured out for us.

We look forward to a fruitful discussion with friends new and old! Questions? Contact Maureen at admin@henrinouwen.org

  1. I’m Amy from Savage, MD. I haven’t been part of your book discussions before and found out about it through the “Praying with Henri Nouwen” retreat where I met Ray. Hello Ray and everyone; I am happy to be here! I love Henri Nouwen’s works and admire who he was as a person. I find his transparency refreshing, as he allows you to accompany him on his own spiritual journey and all the depth and richness that entails. I am mom to an eight-year old daughter, by profession a reference archivist and attend St. Mary of the Mills Church. I look forward to our readings and discussions. God bless you all.

  2. Thank you for sharing your ideas and thoughts with us. I am looking forward to ideas on how to bridge the gap between the sometimes ideal and the real world of “finding our way home.”

  3. Henri Nouwen’s writings have had a profound influence on my life, particlarly The Road to Daybreak. I look forward to being enriched by this study and by those who participate. Have just ordered the book, so ai’ll need to catch up when it arrives.

  4. I am looking forward to writing in the blog, and reading what others say. I have been with Henri Nouwens meditation blogs. I enjoy reading them and being a part of the writing. I find this informative and heart warming.

  5. I’m excited to begin another online study. I’ve done several Advent & Lenten studies but never a summertime one. I was pleased to see the chapters in this book, and expect it to be a good continuation to the Nouwen books I’ve been reading recently: Gracias!, Love in a Fearful Land and one I’m waiting impatiently to arrive: Peacework: Prayer, Resistance, Community.

      1. How do I get the blog? Is there a line to click on to find the blog? Are the responses part of the blog?
I guess I’m a little slow in the blog area.

Looking forward to start the discussion.

        Sally C.

        1. Hi Sally,
You are just where you need to be to participate in this book discussion. Ray has outlined what’s in store for this week so you have all week to respond on the blog if you wish or follow along at your own pace. Ray will post new questions next Sunday on the next section of the book according to the reading schedule (see top navigation bar for link to reading schedule.) If you are still not clear about how this works, please feel free to call me toll-free at 1-866-226-2158.
          Blessings,
          Maureen

  6. I participated in ‘The Return Of The Prodigal Son’ this past Lent, my first online book discussion, and I received so much through the reading, reflection, writing, and sharing of other participatants. I have ordered ‘Finding My Way Home: Pathways to Life and the Spirit’ with the hope of another unique journey with all of you.
Thank you Ray and Maureen for your faithfulness.

    1. A warm welcome to everyone! Just spoke to Ray today and he is looking forward to June 28th! A special hello to my friend Bob – I am happy to see your post!

      Many blessings,

  7. I have been blessed and inspired by Henri Nouwen’s writings for decades, so I am looking forward to this discussion.

  8. Greetings,

I’ve had an opportunity to glean over the book, and really look forward to our discussions as well as being able to read, reflect, share our thoughts – participate at our own pace and in whatever way is most meaningful for us.

Thank you for a new adventure to Finding My Way Home: Pathways to Life and the Spirit.

    Kindest regards to all,
    Alicia

  9. Well, this is one of his books I don’t have, so I just ordered a copy and it is on the way. I have participated before, and had planned to do so during Lent. But, my Lent turned out to be pretty poor. Maybe this will make up for it. Fortunately, I participated in the last round of The Prodigal Son. One good thing that came out of the last book study was that I coaxed a co-worker into reading the Prodigal Son, and she really got a lot out of it. She didn’t post anything, but followed the comments. Maybe my Lent wasn’t so bad after all! In any event, I am really looking forward to going through this book. I like the topics. Thanks for putting it together.

    1. Hi Karen,
Welcome to our summer book discussion! We don’t send the postings by email but I am looking into setting up an option that would make it possible to be notified by email when someone commented.
      Blessings,

    2. Karen, you can sign up for daily meditations if you haven’t already and there is a link at the bottom of every meditation for the blog. Hope this helps. Marianne
